01. Putting the whole going-to-space fiasco aside, Katy Perry sure knows how to put on a fabulous, fun concert. Hit after hit, brilliant costumes and so much energy. Although Teenage Dream will always be my absolute fave, her concert remix of I Kissed a Girl was the standout.
02. A Rising Festival dinner at Kisumé – the salmon sashimi was as delicious as it was pretty.

03. My last ACMI Miranda July movie – Me and You and Everyone We Know. There’s just so much going on in her head… so many elements of the story that I will be pondering. I’m obsessed.
04. Also saw The Materialists – entirely predictable (and pretty to watch) but the real joy was a night out with my mothers group.
05. I’m focusing on cooking from neglected cookbooks – this week’s winner was braised beef short ribs from Julius Roberts’ The Farm Table. Perfect for our wintery weather.
06. The Edinburgh International Book Festival program has been released. No, I’m not planning a quick trip to Scotland but in past years I’ve enjoyed a bunch of their online events. This year I’m thinking Chloe Dalton, Ian McEwan, and Suzanne O’Sullivan.
07. My last Rising events – Intangible #Form by Shohei Fujimoto – a laser light installation projected across the incredibly intricate ceiling at The Capitol, and Saturate, a sound installation by Sara Retallick (described as a ‘communal auditory soak’, it was bathers on for a float in the main pool at The City Baths). It was nice to finish the week in a pool… and with a full Rising moon.

Everyone pulled it to bits but I quite liked Woman’s World – it’s a fun song! 🤷♀️ We saw Kylie in Liverpool a couple of weeks ago and loved it. What a show-woman! 🎶🎤
I think there’s lots to be said for performers who really know how to put on a show (like Kylie, Katy and also Robbie Williams) – doesn’t matter if you’re not into their music or know all of their songs, it’s entertaining.
Thanks for the heads-up for the Edinburgh Festival… a lot of names unfamiliar to me, except for McEwan of course…
All of the online sessions are recorded so that you can watch at your leisure (from memory they weren’t recorded the first year of Covid and I was waking up at stupid o’clock some nights to watch sessions!).
I loved Me and You and Everyone We Know – such a clever movie
Such delicate threads to the story line but each so rich. I loved it.
