01. A big week of early starts in our house because it’s Eurovision week! We had a lot riding on the result this year as, all things going to plan, my daughter and I are going to Eurovision 2026. So, where will we be going…?

AUSTRIA! We’re thrilled.
02. Hello Milka Cherry Creme…
03. One more from the German Film Festival this week – Two to One, a true story from the reunification process, when East German citizens had mere days to exchange their East German Ostmarks for new Deutschmarks. During that time, a group of citizens discovered a stash of millions of Ostmarks, and went about becoming rich with an elaborate scheme. It’s a crazy story.
04. Watching: Dying for Sex (Disney). I’m only a few episodes in but feels like a very real take on a terminal diagnosis, caring for someone who is at end of life, and palliative care.
05. Home stretch with uni assessments – one essay, one quiz and one presentation to go…
06. How is this winter? Yes, chilly starts but such glorious sunny days. And a lane to myself.

We’re off to see Two to One tonight.
And saw Hysteria last night, one of those films about making a film…
It must be winter, Amber has taken to wearing her warm woolly jumper.
I think Two to One is better when you know it’s a true story – without that knowledge it could seem ridiculous! I’m going to a couple more next week (Hysteria isn’t one of them though… not sure I can fit anymore in either – will have to wait for it to appear on SBS if you say it’s worth seeing).
I have one more left next week, the one about Kandinsky. It’s been a good festival this year, whereas the French one was, well, not that enticing.
Agree, great festival this year. There were a dozen that interested me. I still have The Tasters and Riefenstahl to go.
How exciting to be going to Austria next year!
Some of our stores in L.A. carry Milka and you can be assured I will be on the lookout for that Cherry Cream one!!!! OMG!!! I need it nowwwwww.
I LOVE Milka – you used to be able to get it quite readily in our main supermarkets but not so in the last few years. There are a few convenience stores in the city that sell imported sweets and snacks and that’s usually where I pick up my Milka and spot new flavours. My favourite is the chocolate creme (it used to be called Sahne).
Well, apparently, the world doesn’t hate Israel as much as we thought. Coming in second is the exact, perfect result. Trust me, no one wants to have the next contest here in Israel, and our economy is slipping, so… I’m really thrilled. And especially because my three kids are all Austrian citizens!
Israel was the only entry I managed to watch. I thought she was great. Thrilled they got second.
I was late to the Eurovision party but it was lots of fun. So great that you’re planning an Austrian trip for next year with your daughter, Vienna and the country are awesome!
I wasn’t a big fan of Austria’s song (was gunning for Italy) but had a lot of fun watching on Saturday night with my girl. I can’t believe you are going – that is so excinting!
I went to the German Film Festival myself this week and saw a fabulous documentary about Leni Rienstahl. I am writing something about it to go up soon. Such a great experience
I saw that doco yesterday – it was fascinating, wasn’t it? I’ll look forward to your thoughts. Last year, as part of the Jewish Film Festival, I saw Führer and Seducer, which also examined the use of propaganda during the Nazi regime – another one that is well-worth seeing (it was also released under the name of Goebbels and the Führer).
