I have very much a love/hate relationship with him! I thought The Corrections was marvelous when I read it (when it was first released). Then I was swayed (negatively) by all of his carry-on in the media about all sorts of things… Then I swung back to him when I heard him speak… The main thing recommending Purity is the interesting East German element (not terribly realistic, but interesting nonetheless).
I read Freedom and couldn’t wait to read another one, I started Corrections and couldn’t wait to take it to the charity shop and I haven’t read anything since, what an interesting writer!
