01. Two days in Warburton for some forest-bathing. First stop was the Redwood Forest – much to love but especially the quiet spring of the redwood needles underfoot.
The scale of the Mountain Ash. Impossible to capture. We spent a lot of time looking up. The highlight was the Ada Tree – Victoria’s oldest and largest tree (300-400 years and approx. 90 metres).
The tranquility of the rainforest – lots of cool pockets of tree ferns, and an especially lovely walk in the Rainforest Gallery.
And it’s not a trip without a view (this from Mount Donna Buang over the Yarra Valley).
02. Some special mentions – the always cool mid-century Warburton Motel; scrambled eggs at 3 Sugars; and the brand-new, outstandingly good Babaji’s Kitchen (the Kerala beef curry was so delicious).
03. Listening: The Mushroom Cook podcast.
04. Winter shirt.
05. New vinyl.
06. Melbourne Design Week Film Festival – The Power of Utopia and The Genius of the Place both look good.
07. MTC’s The Almighty Sometimes – everything about this play was brilliant.
Beautiful tree pictures! We’re suffering an onslaught of various tree diseases in the UK, including ash dieback. Lots of trees felled which is a great sadness, both aesthetically and because we need more rather than fewer trees in a climate emergency.
So terrible! When I was hiking in Tasmania recently, there were numerous boot-wash stations, to tackle people tramping tree and soil diseases into national parks – was good to see.
What beautiful trees! I’ll checkout the Mushroom cook, i’m always on the lookout for interesting true crime podcasts
