I take my foot off the blogging pedal for a moment, and suddenly I’m a squillion reviews behind. Expect some (very) short reviews so that I can catch up. Continue reading

The Stella Prize 2021 longlist will be announced tomorrow night (tune in here).
Unlike the judges, I’ve only read a dozen or so eligible books but I’m aware of a bunch that keep crossing my radar. On that rather flimsy basis, I’m predicting the longlist*. Continue reading

It’s time for #6degrees. Start at the same place as other wonderful readers, add six books, and see where you end up.
This month we begin with the Lewis Carroll classic, Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland, a book that I’m sure will send bloggers in all sorts of directions. Continue reading

01. I was lucky to see a production of my very favourite Shakespearean play last week – Twelfth Night. Frank Woodley was a stellar Sir Andrew (and that’s a large Melbourne Gin Co. gin, tonic and grapefruit next to my program, so obviously it was an ace night). Continue reading

01. Are we excited about the Man Booker 2017 longlist? I haven’t read Shopgirl and was wondering where to begin when Sue suggested starting with The Women in Black by Madeleine St John – both books are about women who work in department stores – perfect! As a new blogger, I only dipped my toe in the water of reading challenges this year. I’ll change that in 2013, starting with the Australian Women Writers 2013 reading challenge. Continue reading
We have an ace tv show in Australia called the First Tuesday Book Club. It’s essentially a televised book group. I like it because it’s not always agreeable (just like book group).
To celebrate the National Year of Reading, First Tuesday Book Club has compiled a list – the Ten Aussie Books You Must Read Before You Die. Everyone had a chance to put in their two-cents during the year and the results are now in. Continue reading
