01. Cross section of Lune’s June special – the Black Forest Cruffin. The cherry jam layer was perfection.
02. Closing night of the German Film Festival and we saw the funny, sad, and redemptive Treasure , starring Stephen Fry and Lena Dunham. Lots of layers to this story, and lots to ponder about the return of property to Jewish survivors after the Holocaust.
03. And another film festival – the Melbourne Design Week Film Festival. All of the films looked so interesting but there’s just a handful of screenings, so I only got to one – The Power of Utopia, a fascinating documentary about the design and construction of the Indian planned city of Chandigarh 70 years ago, designed by Le Corbusier. It’s on my travel list.
04. Speaking of, holiday-2025-planning has begun. On the agenda is Cambodia and New Zealand.

05. Hello Gray Whale gin (I very much favour coastal botanticals in my gin). Lots of excellent cocktail recipes as well.
06. I hadn’t ordered from Providoor since Covid lockdowns but on a whim I got slow-cooked lamb – so delicious!
07. Totally needless Kindle accessory but I already love it (because I can keep my hands cosy under the bed covers).
08. Watching: Loot (Apple TV) – light and fun – and Three Women (Stan) – not so light, not so fun, but an interesting take on Taddeo’s book.
If you go to Cambodia, make sure you spend a few says in Siem Reap. Unfortunately I got a nasty tummy bug when I was there in 2019, so I missed out on all the 50c beers, but I have fond memories of all those amazing temples; it was like stepping into an Indiana Jones movie 😀
Yes, we are absolutely going there. At this stage my friend and I are thinking about beginning with a short tour with Interpid (which includes Siem Reap), before some time traveling on our own to Koh Rong. My biggest worry is tummy bugs! (even though we know all the precautions to take, sometimes they get you anyway).
I went with Intrepid. It was awesome; I always travel with them when I go solo. There were only three people on the 8-day tour: Me, an elderly psychiatrist from LA and her best friend’s husband from South Africa. It was like travelling with a pair of super intellectual grandparents 😆
Cambodia, and yes, Siem Reap, we loved it there.
Oh I’d love to go to Cambodia! Happy planning!
I also love coastal botanicals. We have several Scottish gins, particularly from the Outer Hebrides, that incorporate kelp. Yum!
