01. It’s the holiday edition! All I’ve done for nine days is sit on the beach and read books. I commented to a friend that I feel very fortunate that my ‘happy place’ is relatively simple to achieve.
02. The weather has been great – the photo above taken just before a late afternoon thunderstorm. I love watching summer storms roll in across the water.

03. New favourite Peninsula bakery – Bütterken (a shame it’s a bit further to travel than my other favourite). Anyway, excellent bread and delicious pretzels with cream cheese and chives.

04. Eating: flathead (caught by Mr Books). Drinking: Four Pillars Gin Punch.
05. Watching: Heated Rivalry (HBO). Yes, I know I’m very late to the party.
06. The International Booker long list – have only read one (The Wax Child) but keen to read a couple of others, especially The Director by Daniel Kehlmann and The Duke by Matteo Melchiorre.
07. Last but not least, went snorkelling at Coral Beach (near Mornington) and it was outstanding. How had I never been before?! (A closely guarded local secret, I suspect) I could have hovered above those sea grass beds for hours. Truly some of the best snorkelling I’ve done in Australia.

You’ve had good weather!
We were lucky. Came back today and it has rained virtually the whole day.
Gorgeous sky! Ours is, unsurprisingly, grey.
Well, blue skies will be coming your way very soon, just as ours turn to grey…
I love those photos, especially the first one. How dramatic!
Yes, everyone else was leaving the beach but I stayed for the light(ning) show!
Cool!
Sounds like the perfect holiday. Do you read while Mr Books goes fishing?
Mr Books and I do our own thing on holiday 🙂 He goes fishing at various beaches and at various times of the day and night (it’s all about the tides), whereas I tend to plant myself on the local beach for hours at a time. We both finish the trip very relaxed, having been able to devote ourselves to our favourite things.
Sounds like the perfect holiday!
It was terrific – so relaxing.
