It’s Week 3 of Nonfiction November, this week hosted by Adventures in Reading, Running and Working From Home. The task? Pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title. This is my absolute favourite #NFN exercise.
Women and ageing – A Question of Age by Jacinta Parsons and The Motion of the Body Through Space by Lionel Shriver
How people mourn – From Here to Eternity by Caitlin Doughty and Faithless by Alice Nelson
AFL and all that happens to get young players onto the ground – The Draft by Emma Quayle and Game Day by Miriam Sved
Hawaii and colonial history – Broken Trust by Samuel P. King and Randall W. Roth and To Paradise by Hanya Yanighara
Influencers and the beauty industry – Glossy by Marisa Meltzer and Self Care by Leigh Stein
Past book pairings posts – here, here, here, here, here and here.
So clever Kate!
Great pairings.
Oh good. You have several examples of books which make nice pairs. I haven’t read any of the books but thanks for giving me a place to start.
My Nonfiction November Week Three Post
Your beauty industry pairing caught my attention because I’ve just read a feature article about one of these ‘influencers”. She has earned enough money to buy a £2million house, complete with a dedicated room just for all the stuff she gets sent and various stage settings for videos. Her husband has given up his job to be her manager …eye opening just how much money companies are willing to send her way….
Some excellent pairings there, well done! I love the variety within your post as well as the range I’m seeing in general – and I’m thrilled people are engaging with “my” week as there’s always that worry!
Fuck, it’s my favourite week, Liz. I’m always going to engage with this one!
Great pairings Kate. I guess I’m particularly interested in the ageing one – funny that!
Some wonderful parings there, thanks.
My Book Pairing post.
Interesting pairings, thanks for sharing
