It’s Nonfiction November, this week hosted by Doing Dewey. The task? Pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title.
Relationships that play out at the local swimming pool – The Memory Pool by Therese Spruhan and Monkey Grip by Helen Garner.
All about whales – Fathoms by Rebecca Giggs and Rush Oh! by Shirley Barrett.
Religion and what it means for social connections – Lapsed by Monica Dux and Devotion by Hannah Kent.
Prague, now and then – The Golden Maze by Richard Fidler and There Was Still Love by Favel Parrett.
Growing up, even if we’re not quite ready – Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton and Adults by Emma Jane Unsworth.
So clever Kate! The only one I’ve read is Adults which I really enjoyed. I have Rush Oh! in the TBR. Monkey Grip looks quite tempting too.
Love these book pairings! Though I think I’ve only read Monkey Grip, which — WHISPER IT — I did not like. I much prefer Garner’s non fiction writing
Love these! I’m very keen to read the Unsworth.
Some interesting pairs there, they look great.
I paired books about Afghanistan
Fabulous pairings. The adultings pairing is particularly compelling.
Fathoms was such a favorite of mine, I wished I could come up with a pairing, but I had nothing that could even possibly work. Very excited to see it on your list!
Great choices Kate, thanks for sharing your recommendations
I am 100 percent adding Rush Oh! to my list. It sounds fantastic.
Love the variety in these pairings! The Dolly Alderton book is on my TBR.
All very interesting themes. I’m curious about whales.
Here are my pairings: https://wordsandpeace.com/2021/11/08/nonfiction-november-2021-book-pairings/
I’ve seen Helen Garner books popping up a lot over the past few weeks, and apparently I’ve been missing out. Fantastic pairings. Fathoms has been hanging out on my TBR pile for a bit.
