01. Yay! I scored Taylor Swift tickets. My daughter is beyond ecstatic.
02. Melbourne Theatre Company’s incredible Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill – the story is based on one of Billie Holiday’s last shows at a small bar in Philadelphia. A brilliant end to our theatre year.
03. Post theatre cocktails and the delicious, delicious, delicious lamb sandwich at Jayda.
04. It was a marathon, but a happy one – my friend and I smashed all four episodes of the Robbie Williams doco in one sitting (sustained by Thai takeaway and gin and tonics).
05. I hate buying jeans… until I find excellent ones.
06. Listening: Betrayal (S2) podcast – it’s confronting.
07. Watched: Nyad – the casting is terrific (and I tackled my swim with a little more oomph this week).
08. Also watched: the fascinating Revenge: Our Dad the Nazi Killer at the Jewish International Film Festival. There was an interesting introduction by a staff member of the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, who said that some people see ‘revenge’ as living a full and happy life, whereas others seek atonement. Made me think back to Kate Rossmanith’s book about remorse (a flip side of revenge??), Small Wrongs.
09. The city is looking festive π
I have wasted what feels like years of my life trying to buy replacement jeans for the ones I love. My partner suggested I try on his and now it’s men’s jeans for me.
I get that – when you find what works, go with it! I have some great ones from Gap but they take so many washes to make new ones soft and comfortable. The ones I bought this week are already so soft. Feel like I won the jeans lottery π
Secondhand denim all the way! Others have done the breaking in for you π I buy a pair from a charity shop every few years. My husband is tougher on jeans but a few charity shop pairs keep him going for a good while.
The right jeans – you’re living the dream π
IKR?!
I may very well be the only person on this planet who couldn’t identify a Taylor Swift song if it jumped up and bit me in the face! I’m sure they’re great, but I just don’t know her work. That aside, yes NYAD was amazing! I was so invested in it, I couldn’t even take a break to make popcorn OR go to the toilet!
Iβm not a Robbie fan but I used to walk past his house regularly in Kensington (he lives next door to Jimmy Paige, and they were having a feud over Robbieβs building plans for YEARS). And, like you, I watched the entire 4 episodes in one sitting (minus the G&Ts) and quite enjoyed it, though it felt like watching live therapy on TV. π
I haven’t watched NYAD yet but I’m looking forward to it but what I can say is that years ago I had a lamb sandwich that I still talk about!
