01. So getting tickets to Eurovision was VERY STRESSFUL but we did it!
02. Cooking: this tomato salad. So good. And this recipe for jazzing up lamb chops. Tasty.
03. Listening: Slow Burn S2 podcast about Monica Lewinsky and the Clinton impeachment. I’ve listened to this podcast before, but decided to revisit it after talking with a friend about Lewinsky’s excellent TED talk about shame.
04. I usually swim at one of two local pools but this week I went well out of my catchment (to Carnegie). Nice change of scenery.

05. Watching: finished Dear Life (Stan) – gosh this made me bawl.
06. Dear Life is set in Ballarat, and the main character lives in a boat shed on Lake Wendouree. I went to many regattas at Lake Wendouree, and in a fit of nostalgia, I decided to do an ergo. I haven’t done an ergo for a decade and the technology has progressed – there’s an app now, where you can join the ‘workout of the day‘. I’m already a bit obsessed, partly because I smashed the first two rows (you can see where you rank against other participants worldwide).
07. Spent an afternoon checking out the new underground stations in the Melbourne CBD.

08. And in more stressful music moments (but not as stressful as Eurovision), the Laneway program was announced this week. A few little overlaps and one clash (Role Model and Geese, but I’ll pick Role Model) but otherwise I’m very pleased – it’s going to be a HUGE day.

Oh, I’m looking forward to checking out the new train stations when I’m next in Melbourne. My BIL was one of the construction managers and my sister was the lift operator at ANZAC station … she even made the news: https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/i-forget-i-m-at-work-construction-site-elevator-art-lifts-workers-spirits-20231127-p5en51.html
I guess the planner in us never dies – love a public infrastructure project! And this is going to sound totally weird but Anzac was my favourite 🙂
Wow you and your sister look so much alike!
That’s the first time anyone has said that!
Really?
What night did you get tickets for re Eurovision? (i.e which night should I be scanning the crowd shots for an Aussie flag?)
We got tickets for two jury shows (they’re not televised – it’s the performance that the juries cast their votes on, so the performers all have skin in the game!) AND the live Semi Final 1. Plus we’re on the floor for that show, so high chance we can be spotted in the crowd! Already starting to think about our outfits.
That’s so exciting Kate! Congrats!
PS I’ve been meaning to say that I sometimes leave comments on your blog that simply disappear, then other times it’s fine (I cannot find a pattern to it). I wrote a long one for Mother Mary yesterday that I lost and didn’t have the heart to start again!
Ooooh, does that mean you’re going to come all the way from Australia to Europe? Are you planning to visit countries other than Austria???
We are! We only have a couple of weeks, the bulk of which will be spent in Vienna but flying into Zurich and then catching train to Vienna, so have an opportunity to see some other places in Austria along the way.
Too far off from me in Northern Germany. Maybe next time.
In any case, enjoy!
