November 2025 happened… new to the TBR stack

All year I show restraint and then November happens – Nonfiction November, Novellas in November, and German Literature Month – it usually means my TBR stack grows, although this year I have been a little more restrained.

First, nonfiction picks (this week of Nonfiction November is hosted by Deb at Reader Buzz):

Devorgilla Days by Kathleen Hart (via Coastal Horizons)
Advice for Future Corpses by Sallie Tisdale (via Lisa Notes)
Is a River Alive? by Robert Macfarlane (via Unsolicited Feedback)
The Story of a Heart by Dr. Rachel Clarke (via Turn the Page)
The Art Thief by Michael Finkel (via Turn the Page)

And for German Lit Month next year:

Die Klavierlehrerin / The Piano Teacher by Elfriede Jelinek (via Tony’s Reading List)
Killing Stella by Marlen Haushofer (via The Intrepid Angeleno) (it’s also a novella)
Das Fest/The Party by Lucy Fricke (via Beauty is a Sleeping Cat)

And novellas to add for next year:

The Bayrose Files by Diane Wald (via 746 Books)
A Room Above a Shop by Anthony Shapland (via Madame Bibi)
Small Boat by Vincent Delecroix (via Reading in Bed)
Flat Earth by Anika Jade Levy (via A Life in Books)
So Long a Letter by Mariama Bâ (via Madame Bibi)

  1. November is a good month to add books to my TBR. December and January are good months to be more realistic about what I’ll really read!

  2. Tina convinced me also to read The Story of a Heart and The Art Thief. They both sound very worthwhile. I’m glad you are looking to read Devorgilla Days. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

  3. I’ve added A Room Above a Shop to my wishlist, and several more from Nonfiction November (I haven’t posted yet as something extra always pops up this week so I save my TBR post to the end of the week). I haven’t bought much because with Christmas and my birthday coming up I risk buying things someone has bought for me. But the wishlist is very full now!

  4. I’m also going to read Advice for Future Corpses. Maybe I’d better read that first . . . I’m already 78! (grin) Happy reading in 2026!
