Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye. This week, all three are new releases that have caught my eye.
Mrs. March by Virginia Feito
Summary: Mrs. March, an Upper East Side housewife, has her life shattered by her husband’s latest novel.
I’m thinking: Yes.
The View Was Exhausting by Mikaella Clements and Onjuli Datta
Summary: A-list actress Whitman Tagore and jet-setting playboy Leo Milanowski pretend to be in a passionate romance because a real relationship would lead to nothing but trouble. But on a trip on the French Riviera, something changes.
I’m thinking: No (although always intrigued by novels that are jointly written).
The Liquid Land by Raphaela Edelbauer
Summary: When her parents die in a car accident, Austrian physicist Ruth Schwarz is confronted with a problem: their will calls for them to be buried in their childhood home – but for strangers, the village of Gross-Einland is hidden.
I’m thinking: Maybe – starts well, but is it some kind of fantasy novel? (not my thing if fantasy)
Absolutely loved Mrs March which lives up to that brilliant jacket as does The View Was Exhausting although my proof copy had a red wine stain on it which made the jacket all the more striking. I imagine they removed it because of all those customers who might have complained!
The first two were on my radar thanks to Susan – I’m very tempted! Fantasy isn’t my thing either so I’d be interested to know if TLL is that style.
I was sent The Liquid Land for review. Haven’t read it yet.
