Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye.
Good Morning, Monster by Catherine Gildiner
Why I have it: Mentioned in this Gilmore Guide post.
Summary: A therapist creates portraits of five of her most memorable patients, men and women who overcame immense trauma.
I’m thinking: Maybe (although some of these case studies look interesting, I’m a bit over this format).
1989: The Berlin Wall: My Part in its Downfall by Peter Millar
Why I have it: Spotted on one of Lizzy’s German Lit Month posts.
Summary: Peter Millar was literally in the middle of the end of the Cold War – caught in Checkpoint Charlie between East German border guards and drunk western revellers prematurely celebrating the end of an era.
I’m thinking: Yes.
She Said by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey
Why I have it: Sarah’s Bookshelves
Summary: The full story of Kantor and Twohey’s investigation into Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment and abuse, and its consequences for the #MeToo movement.
I’m thinking: Yes.
I’d say yes to the Millar, too.
The Millar sounds really interesting, I’ll look forward to hearing how you find it.
She Said sounds great, a YES from me.
The Millar would also get my vote
I’m with the Millar too!
The Millar is available in my local library. I’m fascinated by the reunification of Germany, so I might well borrow it.
