Things That Are Making Me Happy This Week

01. Went to a fabulous concert this week –  A Kind of Hush (The Magic of Karen Carpenter) – brought to us by Katie Noonan, Melinda Schneider and Abby Dobson (which has prompted a little Leonardo’s Bride retrospective). Such a beautiful night and I loved that each of the singers but their own stamp on the songs (without putting too much of a stamp!).

02. It prompted me to watch this clip (and a bunch of other clips of her drumming brilliance).

03. Okay, you all have to take yourselves along to see Perfect Days. Sublime. Peaceful. Just lovely.

04. Listening: The Tortured Poets Department obvs. And loving the analysis (so glad the hard-core Swifties are available to do all of the work).

05. One of the enviable tasks that the organisers of the Melbourne International Film Festival have, is going to the Berlinale Internationale Filmfestspiele. I always enjoy the report (and use it for some advance research on what to see at MIFF, come August).

06. One of the venues for the Berlinale Internationale Filmfestspiele is the Kino Internationale, a brilliant example of Socialist GDR architecture. I happened across this video about the cinema’s recent 60th birthday.

07. Watching: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

08. An afternoon at the BBC Earth Experience (I always have time for Sir David).
