Book.
- Tess’s determination and independence is the theme (in the tv series she seems to fluff through things in a ‘helpless’ way).
- Jake in my mind was better than the Jake on tv. Much, much better.
- Descriptions of the restaurant, food and the chef were evocative – that’s easy to translate onto the screen, right? Apparently not – it’s flat and fussy.
I haven’t had a chance to see the TV show … good to know I’m not missing much!
The show was okay but if you want something to really get stuck into, there are probably more gripping shows!
There are so many TV series I want to watch, I’m very pleased by your conclusion! One not to add to the list 🙂
The show wasn’t bad by any means but it didn’t have me bingeing one episode after another.
This TV show keeps popping up on my Google Play TV as a recommendation. Have been curious about but I didn’t realise it was a book. Thanks for the heads up.
If you feel like some lighter reading the book is a good choice – well-written and not the usual plot.
Thanks!
Someone recommended this tv show to me ages ago, and I watched about 2-3 episodes (I know they only did 6… I just never got there!) and it was ok. Glad the book seemed better!
Loved the book but it looks like the TV adaptation is one to avoid. So often the case.
Book certainly sounds preferable to the show. Glad to know. 🙂
