Book (even though I love Emily Blunt).
- three unreliable narrators in the book are better than only one in the movie
- Rachel’s drunken black-outs are more frightening on paper
- motives make more sense with a backstory
Book (even though I love Emily Blunt).
I’ve not read the book – 3 unreliable narrators? That is quite an undertaking! Might be a good one for my commute…
It starts with one incredibly unreliable narrator (who’s an alcoholic) but then you slowly realise that they all are a bit mental. Yes, perfect book for the train (just don’t go looking out the window while holding it…).
Haven’t read the book but went to the cinema because I like Emily Blunt a lot, knew the book had sold billions of copies so must have some merit and hoped, for something special. However, found the whole film a complicated grind, but perhaps that is a male view!
The book certainly better but not exciting enough for you to go out of your way to read it. Without Blunt the movie would have bombed I reckon.
Thanks for this. I am yet to watch the movie but I have a feeling that I will also prefer the book:-)
Really enjoyed the book, but have yet to see the film – the trailer looks quite good, however I think the film may be a let down for me. I’ve heard some mixed thoughts on it. Thanks for sharing yours!
Lol, I didn’t even know the movie was out yet. Sigh – that’s how much I watch TV. I’d rather have my nose in a book.
