4. Began my first true audiobook yesterday (as opposed to using the fabulous text-to-speech function on my old Kindle) – I’m listening to The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan (and read by Flanagan).

My effort to listen to an audiobook was prompted by this excellent article about the Australian winner of the inaugural Sarah Lawrence College International Audio Fiction Awards (The Sarahs), Rijn Collins. The story behind Collins’s prize-winning story about taxidermy, flamingos and Tom Waits lullabies is great, as is her soundbite on audiobooks –
‘An awareness of how words sound instead of look is crucial.’
6. For the Sweet Valley High enthusiasts out there (and I know they exist), this article about what happens to the twins and their cohort in middle age.
7. For the record, that article was sent to me by a friend who I hadn’t seen in a while. We ran into each other at the local bakery last weekend and she said “I thought of you recently because I read this funny article about Sweet Valley High…”. It’s excellent that people know I have a deep and enduring love for the work of Francine Pascall.
8. I’ve had a weird switcharoo reading experience this week – read one book that everyone raved about and I thought was ordinary, and read another that I loved but that was canned on Goodreads (Penelope by Rebecca Harrington – review to come).

Prince George meeting Obama. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall!
There’s a whole collection of pictures (somewhere on the interwebs) of Obama and kids – there’s one that cracks me up because it’s a kid lying on the floor of the oval office (I suspect the kid had had enough and just lay down, as 3yos like to do!).
I bought the Immature Cheddar as a birthday card for a friend. Her 4 year old loved it. I’ve found my audience.
I often find that four-year-olds are my best audience for telling a joke…
I think we may share a puerile sense of humour…

I just finished reading Narrow Road. Not sure how easy I would have found it to follow as a plot on audio but some of the scenes would work extremely well
I actually have a hard copy as well so I guess I can always refer to it if needed (but so far, so good!). I decided to listen to it because I’ve had the hard copy for ages but haven’t felt all that keen to pick it up – thought the audio would be a good kick-start at the very least.
Omg Prince George is just THE CUTEST. 😂 And go him for wearing what’s comfortable. #priorities Ahem. ;D Also I ADORE audiobooks!! They make me remember a book more (I think I’m an auditory learning tbh) and I doooo so like the sound of words as well as the reading of them.

Maybe I should try an audio book…just one! What could it hurt? I should break down and get an iPod…ha! I’m probably the only person on the planet who doesn’t have one. Then I could WALK more.
