01. They’ve planted a meadow at the Convent. It’s small but lovely.

02. I’ve done so much planning for my trip to Austria this week. All the major stuff is in place (flights, accommodation and train trips), now it’s just down to organising the fun bits (Sound of Music tour, strudel-making class, restaurants).
03. A brilliant night watching the Signature Choir accompanied by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. I really love Pasifika music and (for whatever reason, and I’m sure someone who knows a lot about music could tell me) I find it deeply relaxing.

04. Watching: Feud – Capote’s Women (Binge). Tom Hollander as Truman Capote is outstanding.
05. It was terrific to be back at book group (we did The Wax Child and there was a lot of discussion).
06. Hooray! WIAN reading challenge is on again.
07. Cooking: Adam Liaw’s hot smoked salmon with dill, eggs and new potatoes (perfect for that 44 degree day we sweltered through).
08. Eating: heirloom tomato salad at Gilbee’s – so tasty (below); and equally delicious were the breakfast tomatoes with stracciatella at Cam’s (at the bottom); and Koko Black Hot Cross Bun bites – very moreish!

Enjoy your trip:)
Quite certain I will!
I think hot smoked salmon or trout with potatoes and dill or mint – or any salad nicoise versions – make great summer food.
When are you off to Austria? We are still pondering a European trip – southern Germany and probably south of France – for this year.
We’re going to Austria for Eurovision, so May. So excited and this is an absolute bucket list adventure!
Hope I get to read a show-off holiday post of yours later in the year! (highly recommend southern Germany).
That sounds exciting, Kate.
As for southern Germany, yes. Mr Gums lived there for a year in the 1970s. We’ve been together twice since then and I enjoy it too. We want to wander around the smaller towns and villages as we did last trip.
Feud is on my watchlist thanks!
