02. And more eighties music love – excited to be going to Cyndi Lauper’s concert (She’s So Unusual is one of my most favourite albums ever).

04. The Piccolina collab season has started. Philippa Sibley’s cinnamon doughnut gelato was good but Simon Ball-Smith’s Frosty Fruit gelato was out of this world.
05. My daughter and I had a big Melbourne Fashion Week day out – first stop was a tour of the Australian Performing Arts collection where we saw everything from Dame Joan Sutherland’s wigs to Peter Allen’s maracas, as well as where they do the conservation and restoration work. Stopped by a few free events and then on to the Closing Showcase. It’s the people-watching more than the fashion that interests me.
06. …and a few famous faces in the audience (‘famous’ depending on what you’re into – but I like Australian music and a bit of Selling Sunset).
07. Watching: Fisk S3. Exactly my sense of humour.
08. Saw the documentary Your Fat Friend about activist (and now author and podcaster) Aubrey Gordon. An important, thought-provoking piece. See it if you can.
09. Always a sucker for blue nail polish.
10. A few years ago a tree in our garden died. When it was removed, there was a straggly fig there, which had been supported by the tree that was removed. I staked it and now, three years on, it is huge and this summer, is bearing fruit. Hooray!
Lucky you with the fig tree! We had my partner’s fig jam on our breakfast toast this morning. Not made from our own figs although they do grow here,
Our figs won’t be around long enough to become jam – we eat them straightaway! 🙂
I’ve been tossing up the idea of seeing Kim Wilde… she’s playing Perth… but I was OBSESSED with her when I was 13 and I’m scared she won’t live up to expectations. Also, everyone in the audience will be 50+ and I don’t need a reminder of my age, thank you very much 🤣🤣🤣
Well yes, everyone in the audience was 50+, but in terms of quality, Kim is FABULOUS. I have seen her perform quite a few times and her concerts are consistently good (I reckon it’s because she knew how to sing in the eighties, so still has it – this compares to the one-hit-wonders who are wheeled out for these multiple-artist 80s concerts and you realise they can’t sing eg. I was very disappointed when I saw Paul Young – eith he’s done a lot of hard living since his 80s hits or he could never sing in the first place!).
