November is the month for #ALLTHEREADING and Nonfiction November is back with a full schedule of topics to focus our nonfiction reading.
Week 1: (Oct. 28 to Nov. 1) – Based on a True Story hosting Your Year in Nonfiction
Week 2: (Nov. 4 to 8) – Volatile Rune hosting Choosing Nonfiction
Week 3: (Nov. 11 to 15) – Adventures in Reading, Running and Working from Home hosting Book Pairing
Week 4: (Nov. 18 to 22) – She Seeks Nonfiction hosting Mind Openers
Week 5: (Nov. 25 to 29) – Readerbuzz hosting New to My TBR
My nonfiction reading is generally dominated by memoir but I manage to pepper it with other books, usually to do with water 🙂 And regardless of the topic, I somehow manage to finish Nonfiction November with a bunch of books added to the TBR stack.
I am overwhelmed already without contributing to another meme (MARM will do me for Nov.) Looking around at my shelves I see I own plenty of nonfiction, nearly all about writers or writing. But a couple of shelves of politics and philosophy. I have owned Dibble on Elizabeth Jolley for at least 6 years without opening it, which says pretty well how my NF reading is going.
I have always wondered why November is such a busy month for reading challenges – it happens to fall at the busiest time of the year for me (with work and socially!). I have no shortage of NF – apart from loads of memoirs, I have bunches of books about swimming, psychology, writers and writing like you, and travel.
One of my favourite challenges, but there are so many of them in November. I wonder why so many challenges are aimed for reading in November?
I know, I wonder the same! I do wonder if it would be better to focus on just one challenge instead of trying to do it all.
