Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye. I came across this week’s selections while compiling the 2019 List of Lists.
Very Nice by Marcy Dermansky
Summary: A girl, her mother and the girl’s creative writing professor each do things they didn’t imagine themselves ever doing – the things are very nice but complicated.
I’m thinking: Yes – not too late to make this a beach read.
Wunderland by Jennifer Cody Epstein
Summary: NYC, 1989 – Ava Fisher receives news of the death of her estranged mother, Ilse, and it sparks questions about Ava’s childhood and her mother’s association with the Hitler Youth movement.
I’m thinking: Yes – the combination of Berlin and New York is hard to pass.
Supper Club by Lara Williams
Summary: A secret society of hungry young women meet after dark and feast to reclaim their appetites and their physical spaces.
I’m thinking: Yes.
Yes to Wunderland for the same reasons!
All of these are new to me but they’ve all got an interesting premise. I’ll be interested to hear how you get on with them!
Supper Club sounds… terrible to me… but I hope you enjoy it!
All of these sounds interesting.
I could go along with Wunderland. Very Nice sounds a bit too warm and nice for me though
Wunderland has been on my radar too…
