It’s the final week of Nonfiction November, hosted by What’s Nonfiction?
So what’s the damage? I’ve added a few books to the TBR stack –
Forty Autumns: A Family’s Story of Courage and Survival on Both Sides of the Berlin Wall by Nina Willner – Julz Reads
Stacie left me a bunch of memoir suggestions after noting that I was enjoying The Bright Hour by Nina Riggs. I’ll work through the list but first cabs off the rank will be: A Mother’s Reckoning: Life in the Aftermath of the Columbine Tragedy by Sue Klebold; Everything Happens for a Reason: And Other Lies I’ve Loved by Kate Bowler; and Grief Works: Stories of Life, Death, and Surviving by Julia Samuel.
Hearing Maud by Jessica White look fascinating – ANZ LitLLovers
Split Tooth by Inuk throat singer Tanya Tagaq because Lovely Bookshelf describes it as ‘an experience’.
The Plaza by Julie Satow was on Musings of a Literary Wanderer’s NFN reading list.
A bunch from Mind Joggle‘s list – My Glory Was That I Had Such Friends by Amy Silverstein; Where the Angels Lived by Margaret McMullan; I Miss You When I Blink by Mary Laura Philpott.
I’m tempted by The Riviera Set: 1920 – 1960: The Golden Years of Glamour and Excess by Mary S Lovell on the strength of the cover alone – Books Please
Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe – Howling Frog Books and also on Doing Dewey
Plagued by Fire by Paul Hendrickson (always interested in Frank Lloyd Wright) – Sarah’s Book Shelves
Lastly, thank you to all the Nonfiction November hosts – it’s been fun! And thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on posts.
Good list Kate – and well done. I included a couple books from posts I’d read in my list, but the rest were books I’ve added from elsewhere (some a long time ago!) Not perhaps in the law of the meme, but in the spirit!
I can’t wait to hear what you think of 40 Autumns. Thanks for participating!!!
I enjoyed Nonfiction November so much this year. Thank you for sharing your new books to your TBR list with us.
The Plaza ended up being an AMAZING read – I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
I can second that Forty Autumns recommendation, it is such a good book!
I’d hope the book on Frank Lloyd Wright would give me yet another opportunity to drool over the photographs of the amazing places he designed
Yes, I’d like that one too. A friend has just a tour in America of his buildings, and I am so envious…
I don’t know your friend but I’m envious too… Fallingwater is on my travel bucket list.
I’m very shallow – The Riviera Set sounds very appealing!
I added soo many!
