Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye. This week, all the selections were spotted in my Goodreads stream.
My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward by Mark Lukach
Summary: A memoir of marriage redefined by mental illness.
I’m thinking: No. I love a misery memoir but the writing in this one didn’t grab me.
Everybody Lies by Seth Stephens-Davidowitz
Summary: A book about what people search for on the internet and what it reveals.
“…people’s search for information is, in itself, information.”
I’m thinking: Yes.
Basket of Deplorables by Tom Rachman
Summary: Almost true short stories for a post-truth world.
I’m thinking: No. I suspect these stories are full of sharp political satire, funny for those living in the US.
None of these particuarly appeal – I think I’m going through an escapist phase!
I haven’t heard of any of these books, so can’t offer my advice.
