Okay, that’s a Leo Sayer song but this post is all about the Gibbs.
I felt it was time for a Bee Gees literary mix tape (mainly because I’m still sulking about Barry’s cancelled Melbourne tour).
Marvel at the lustrous hair (chest and other) and the magnificent use of solid gold.

05. How Deep is Your Love/ Foal’s Bread by Gillian Mears
06. I Started a Joke / Palladio by Jonathan Dee
07. Alone / Wilful Disregard by Lena Andersson
08. Tragedy / Mothering Sunday by Graham Swift
09. More Than a Woman / Mimi by Lucy Ellmann
10. To Love Somebody / Persuasion by Jane Austen
11. Stayin’ Alive / Animals by Emma Jane Unsworth
And if anyone can suggest a suitable pairing for my favourite Bee Gees song, Massachusetts, I’d love to hear it.
Haha -this is fantastic! I just read Mothering Sunday last week – Tragedy fits well with that.
This whole list was actually quite tricky because lots of their songs are about the same thing… and I don’t really read romance books – really had to think about the nuance in the lyrics!
love the humour here. I am struggling to find a pair for Massachusetts though
I couldn’t even go literal because couldn’t think of a book that I’ve read set in Mass (apart from Little Women set in Boston but I didn’t think that fitted with the song!).
Massachusetts is my favourite Bee Gees song too! I thought I was alone in that. Good to find a song mate 🙂
I’m not feeling inspired. with regard to a novel choice though – I may come back to you…
Great tape as always 🙂
There will come a time when we get to meet IRL and we’ll listen to great music and drink large quantities of gin and talk about books and it will be ace. I’m quite sure.
That sounds perfect 🙂
This is a really unique list idea! I’m hoping to read Persuasion this year. I want to read more classics 🙂
Had a giggle at this. And I loved the Bee Gees back in the day. (And I’m feeling old!)
I love this! Massachusetts is one of my favourite Bee Gees songs, but I cannot think of a suitable pairing right now.
