Book vs. Film: Still Alice

Book.

  • Because although Julianne Moore is incredible in the role, you get a greater sense of Alice’s frustration in the book. You also appreciate what Alice loses as her memory deteriorates in the book (her independence, her work).
  • An important theme in the story was love – this was explored more thoroughly in the book.

Watching the film reminded me of the TED talk about preparing for Alzheimer’s – incredibly honest and insightful.

  1. I read Still Alice for the first time this year, and it was probably one of the most powerful and thought provoking books I’ve read for a long time! I kind of want to see the film… But I’m always dubious about watching the film adaptation of books I love.
