Foodies Read 2014 Wrap-up

I just scraped in to complete the 2014 Foodies Read reading challenge, hosted by I’d Rather be at the Beach.

My selections included two memoirs, Apron Anxiety: My Messy Affairs In and Out of the Kitchen by Alyssa Shelasky and Kitchen Table Memoirs edited by Nick Richardson, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I picked one work of fiction, Hungry, the Stars and Everything by Emma Jane Unsworth – some aspects of this book were brilliant, other parts were not my cup of tea. I thought Unsworth’s more recent novel, Animals, was extremely good and recommend that over Hungry as representative of Unworth’s style.

And then there was Fictitious Dishes by Dinah Fried – so clever. If you haven’t seen this book (and you like reading and cooking), it’s basically book-shelf must-have.

Looking forward to Foodies Read 2015.

    • I didn’t do as well as I had in previous years either 🙁 Not because of a lack of titles (still lots of good books in my TBR stack that fit the criteria) but I think the year just got away from me!
