Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new ‘top ten’ challenge is posted – anyone can join in.
I don’t participate in Top Ten Tuesday every week. Some of the topics grab me more than others and I admit that I was initially going to pass on this week’s topic – Top Ten Bookish People You Want To Meet (Authors, Bloggers, etc.). However, I’ve stretched the topic a little and included a few characters amongst those bookish people I’d like to meet. So, here’s my ecclectic list –
1. Author EL James’ teenage son(s) – they must be MORTIFIED
2. Author Lewis Carroll – what was going on in his head?!
3. Author John Irving – so I could just stand there, star-struck.
4. Children’s author/illustrator Oliver Jeffers – mummy-crush.
5. Rory at Fourth Street Review – of all the blogs I’ve come across in my short time blogging, Rory has the closest reading taste to my own. I’m sure we would have lots to talk about.
6. Jo from Little Women – what avid reader didn’t imagine herself as Jo at some point?
7. Author Joyce Lankester Brisley because her delightful Milly-Molly-Mandy stories made me a reader from a very young age.
8. Author Dr Seuss – ditto no. 2 above.
9. The person who invented the Kindle. I love printed books with a passion… but I also love being able to take 100+ books on holiday with me, packed neatly in my Kindle.
10. Gilbert in Anne of Green Gables – teenage crush.
Bahahahah I love your first pick. While I’m sure they take a lot of flake for being the kids of the lady who wrote 50 Shades, I’m sure they aren’t minding the millions of dollars their mom just made.
The money would make it a little easier!
Ohh, Jo is a great choice! But I’d actually want to meet everyone from Little Women. Thinking about it I think I’d like to be swallowed by that book so that I could live in the world forever 🙂

Your list was fantastic. And very funny re number 1!! I’d like to meet author Lionel Shriver. Love her work and she very interesting in interviews. Thanks for getting me onto Fourth Street Review. As a very new book blogger it’s always good to hear about other good blogs.
I went to a talk by Lionel Shriver when she last toured Australia – fascinating woman and the stories behind her stories were riveting.
It’s good to see I’m not the only one that had a crush on Gilbert when they were younger 😛
I think my heart broke a few times at how Anne treated him.

Lewis Carroll would be fun to meet, I’m sure! And I love that you picked Jo. 🙂 Louisa May Alcott was the first person on my list. My co-blogger LOVES Oliver Jeffers! Obviously I must check out his picture books soon. Great list!
Jeffers books are beautiful – all of them. My favourites are ‘Stuck’, ‘Lost and Found’ and ‘Heart and the Bottle’.
The first one made me laugh out loud too, I had no idea she had teenage sons. And thank you for including me, consider the feeling mutual. I’m also excited because this is the only time in my life that my name will be on the same list as John Irving’s 🙂

Oh my gosh, Dr. Seuss! What a good addition. I should have added him to my list. When I was a kid, I actually didn’t like Dr. Seuss books. Mainly because there weren’t any princesses in his books, and I was a bit princess obsessed as a little girl.
But now, as an adult, I think his books are amazing. What a good choice. 🙂
