Things That Are Making Me Happy This Week

01. We’ll take the four points but will never speak of this game again (truly, was great to be back at the ‘G with my Carlton besties).

02. One film at Europa Europa Film Festival this week: Made in EU (it’s a COVID story, if you’re ready for one, and was very interesting).

03. Secured tickets to some of the Eurovision after-parties – so excited.

04. Watching: Louis Theroux’s new documentary, Inside the Manosphere (Netflix). He has such a knack for getting what he wants from the people he’s interviewing.

05. The 2026 Stella Prize longlist – I’ve only read Memorial Days (which I really enjoyed). Have put a bunch on reserve at the library and will see what I can get through before the shortlist is announced on April 8, and the winner on May 13.

  1. Making me happy this week is the discovery of a really excellent Thai restaurant in my local shopping centre — it’s been there for *years*. The Spouse doesn’t do chilli, so we’d never been there!

    • Finding a good Thai place is the BEST. My favourite local closed about 18 months ago and I’m yet to match it. As it is, the best Thai I’ve had here is at a place in McCrae (called The Lighthouse Cafe) – it is our must-do every time we holiday down there (testament to how good they are, they often close takeaway orders by 6.30pm!).

      • Sometimes we and The Offspring have dinner halfway between us so I’ve been to one out your way in Camberwell: Peds Thai 1415 Toorak Rd. Have you tried that one? It was nice, but the ambience was not as nice as our local Out 4 Thai.
