Reading Ireland Month, hosted by Cathy at 746 Books, has begun!
I have quite a few books by Irish authors in my TBR stack, including:
- A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing by Eimear McBride
- The Forgotten Waltz by Anne Enright
- The Wren, the Wren by Anne Enright
- Actress by Anne Enright
- The Mark and the Void by Paul Murray
- The Fields by Kevin Maher
- Sugartown by Caragh Maxwell
- Eden Burning by Deirdre Quiery
- The Master by Colm Tóibín
- All the Broken Places by John Boyne
- A Traveler at the Gates of Wisdom by John Boyne
- Erin’s Diary by Lisa McGee
- The Blood Miracles by Lisa McInerney
- Before the Leaves Fall by Clare O’Dea
- A Ghost in the Throat by Doireann Ní Ghríofa
- Orchid & the Wasp by Caoilinn Hughes
- We Are Not in the World by Conor O’Callaghan
Plus there are a couple in my library’s audio collection that I’m keen to listen to (particularly Thirst Trap by Grainne O’Hare; The City Changes its Face by Eimear McBride; Exciting Times and The Happy Couple, both by Naoise Dolan; Mouthing by Orla Mackey; and The Compound by Aisling Rawle).
Now, where to start…?
I adore A Girl is A Half-Formed Thing and have really enjoyed The Compound, The Blood Miracles and Before the Leaves Fall. You are in for some real treats!
A Ghost in the Throat was a favorite last year!
Before the Leaves Fall is a quietly compassionate little gem. If you enjoy it, I’d recommend Voting Day.
Your stack looks like you could have a fun time reading! I’ve read A Girl Is a Half-Formed Thing, The Wren, The Wren, and The Master. All good!
I’m reading The Forgotten Waltz at the moment. A Ghost in the Throat is a stunner!
You have some good ones there! I highly recommend A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing by Eimear McBride, The Forgotten Waltz by Anne Enright (I didn’t much like her other novels, The Wren, the Wren and thought Actress disappointing) and We Are Not in the World by Conor O’Callaghan.
