Why I have it: billed as the ‘Scandinavia’s hottest read of summer 2025’.

Summary: A group of friends from university; seven summer days in a cabin in rural Denmark. A chance to swim, sunbathe, flirt, read and spend time together like the old days. At least that’s what Sylvia had hoped. But when Gry turns up with her kids and Esben and Karen announce their wedding, Sylvia is left wondering what happened to the radical ways of living they envisaged at university.

I’m thinking: Maybe.

The Book of Guilt by Catherine Chidgey

Why I have it: Because I enjoyed her last book, Pet.

Summary: England, 1979. Triplets Vincent, Lawrence and William are the last remaining residents of a secluded New Forest home, part of a government scheme. Every day, they do their chores, play their games and take their medicine, under the watchful eyes of three house mothers. All the boys want is to be sent to the ‘Big House’ in Margate, where they imagine a life of sun, sea and fairground rides. But, as the government looks to shut down the scheme, the triplets begin to question everything they have been told.

I’m thinking: Yes (I’m getting Never Let Me Go vibes).

The City Changes Its Face by Eimear McBride

Why I have it: because I’m hot off the first part of this story.

Summary: On a rainy night, 20-year-old Eily and 40-year-old Stephen retrace the course of their two-year love affair in search of what’s gone wrong.

I’m thinking: Yes.
