01. My baby who’s been away the longest returned home this week. He spent five months in Europe – his favourite places were Montenegro (which is where the pic above was taken), Lapland (below), and the city of Brussels.

02. I’ve waited patiently for John Irving’s newest novel, The Last Chairlift, and then somehow I missed the release! I have it now.
03. This week’s British Film Festival offerings – Brian & Charles (loved this so much) and Emily (realised I don’t know enough about the Brontes to sort fact from fiction, but it is a beautiful film to watch, full of windy Yorkshire moors, writing by candlelight, and tones of grey).
04. Ampelmann ice makes gin and tonics wirklich gut.
05. Each summer, I’m lured by new swimming and beach accessories. This year, I have resisted the custom goggles (it has taken willpower but actually, the $12 ones I have from Decathalon are the best goggles I’ve ever owned) but caved on this hammock float because a) you’re still in the water, not baking on top and b) it’s small and will pack away easily.
06. Watching: White Lotus S2. It’s just so good.
07. An afternoon of planning some details for our stay in Maui (snorkeling and restaurants mostly).

Isn’t it the best when the youngsters come home, full of new adventures to talk about?
Yes, and with this newfound independence and confidence that I think only comes with travel.
How lovely. Brussels is my absolute favourite city, I met hubby there and our youngest lives there now. I’m so glad he (she) liked it so much).
I loved Emily, it was the way they played with facts and mixed them up with fiction and then weren’t slaves to the time period either that made it all so dramatic and fun for me! I’m off to Brussels next week for the first time so that’s made me happy!
