Things That Are Making Me Happy This Week

01. Readers, make a beeline for MTC’s The Sound Inside – packed with literary references, and very cleverly structured. I can’t find a complete reading list, but this one includes a quote about Franzen that made me laugh out loud.

“I told her that reading Jonathan Franzen is the equivalent of eating a few servings of truck-stop-quality fruit cocktail and then going on a spirited jog down a well- appointed Upper-middle-class street with giant initials on all the garages.”

02. Two theatre productions for me this week – the other was The Heartbreak Choir. It was funny, sad, thoughtful, accurate, and the set (a country hall) was perfect down to the last detail.

03. From the bright lights of the stage to no lights at all – my first night at No Lights No Lycra, and I am absolutely obsessed. From Celine Dion power ballads and Hanson pop to ABBA classics and new stuff I didn’t know – I loved it all and every muscle ached the next day (in a good way).

04. Long socks and this cheerful windcheater.

05. Likely to be my favourite shade this winter.

06. Watching: The English Game (Netflix) – it’s been out for a long time but I’ve only just come across it. Made by the same crew as Downton Abbey and tells the story of the beginnings of the English soccer league.

07. How good are Afourer mandarins this season?

08. Prince Louis memes.

  1. I’ve never heard of No Lights No Lycra – it sounds great but I’m wondering how do you not crash into each other?

Love that nail shade 🙂 And I’m trying to ignore that the windcheater will ship to the UK!
