Things That Are Making Me Happy This Week

01. Another superb walk along the Yarra. And yes, it’s an algal bloom, but doesn’t it look incredible?! (at a billabong in Ivanhoe)

02. Watching: Inventing Anna (Netflix) – I was waiting for this after reading My Friend Anna by Rachel DeLoache Williams. Not entirely convinced by the TV series but after the intensity of Succession, it’s good to watch some fluff.

03. Alison Bechdel talking about Fun Home (I’m seeing the MTC production in a couple of weeks time).

04. German Wordle – ignoring the fact that there are very few five-letter words in German, I’d be thrilled to get more than five correct by the year’s end.

05. Marion Grasby’s new cookbook, Always Delicious. I’ve marked a squillion recipes.

06. Poolside cocktail.

07. Below Deck Down Under – can’t wait (don’t judge).

08. I’m halfway through listening to Sinéad O’Connor read her memoir, Rememberings. It’s extraordinary.

09. Dinner with my oldest friends = holiday dates locked in. Yes, it’s for 2023 but I’m already excited.

10. I think it’s time to move the avocado to a pot…

  1. Ah, how lovely. Only visited Melbourne three times but loved my Yarra walks.
I found Sinead’s autobiography raw and honest, and enjoyed her little giggles as she read it. The section about her children is all the more poignant given her recent loss.
