It’s that time of the year when newspapers and magazines publish their ‘Best of 2021’ lists. These are the books that we would have been talking about around the water-cooler, had we not been working from home.
Lists usually begin appearing early November and keep going until the end of the year – I will keep adding as they are published.

Hi – this is a great resource – thanks for putting it together. I’m sure I will find a year’s worth of reading on them!
I get the NYT so checked out their ‘best’ books a day or two ago. Hadn’t heard of any of them. But at least I read Sally Rooney, that will give me someone familiar to sidle up to amongst all the strangers in most lists.
Yes, Sally Rooney a strong contender for ‘winner’ this year.

I’ve become a bit cynical about many of these lists (very often the same big titles everywhere, which barely need the promotion), although I still enjoy looking at them, so thank you for this compilation!
I’m halfway through the aggregate of all of these lists and I have to say, so far it’s a much more even field this year (usually a couple of titles appear on every list – not so for 2021!).
