Book (by a whisker because I very much enjoyed the film).
- when the twist is delivered in the book, it was a swift punch in the guts. Somehow, the impact was lost slightly on film.
- but the grief of the mothers, their children lost in War, required no words on film – their eyes held all the sadness.
- the casting, the costumes, the sets were exactly how I imagined (which is interesting given that Swift doesn’t labour over descriptions).
So, read the book AND see the film.
Book. Film.
Good to hear! I enjoyed the book but I wasn’t sure about the film. I love Olivia Coleman in everything though 🙂
