01. Absolutely obsessed with the podcast Once Upon a Time at Bennington College (thanks to Jenny for the tip). Starting my re-read of The Secret History and Less Than Zero soon. In fact, there will probably be a whole Bennington reading project…
02. My household of six is now fully vaccinated (and yes, there’s merch).
03. Making restaurant bookings. First big night out planned for Mejico and finishing at Nick & Nora’s.
04. Authors talking about their new novels –
- Jennifer Down on Bodies of Light – Jennifer said -“My favourite books are the ones that give me that sad, sick feeling… the books that give me a visceral gut-punch response – those stories stay with me.” Me too.
- Jonathan Franzen on Crossroads – one of the major themes is about religion and belief. Is it just me, or is this theme on-trend at the moment? I guess COVID has resulted in plenty of existential and spiritual crises…
05. Burn City Smokers brisket and snowballs. All so delicious.
06. This afternoon we watched the Grilled Cheese Invitational – we’ll be sourcing some of the bread used by the winner, from Zelda – it looked amazing.
07. Nonfiction November is coming.
08. I’ve made a bit of a reading plan for the rest of the year… satisfying to do (as a list always is) but destined to fail, obvs.
09. Negroni Week is done and dusted but we extended the joy with Negroni cannoli.
10. Cherry blossoms near Heide.

Congrats on getting vaccinated and yay for restaurant bookings! The ting that made me happy this week was my dog, like all weeks before. I swear, seeing his precious face every day just makes my entire day better. Happy reading!
Congrats on the fully vaxxed family! Mine ticked that box in the last week too.
Enjoy the restaurants. We started back last Friday with a restaurant we’d booked as soon as opening was announced. It was wonderful.
The last in my extended family (given at home just use two of us) to be double-vaxxed is getting his second short pretty much as I write this. Woo hoo.

Vax socks! signalling you’ve had the jab seems common in USA but I’ve not seen any sign of it in U.K.
