01. Floods! Has made my Yarra River walking project fun the last few days.
02. And look at this massive leaf I found! (the Chokito there for scale but the leaf is 44cm). I think it’s from a Victorian Blue Gum.

03. It’s nice to be out of lockdown again. Spent the afternoon (which turned into evening) here with some of my oldest and dearest friends (yes, a bar and bookshop – genius).
04. Gimlet cocktail making night. The live comments were a fair indication of the state of the audience (and me) after three cocktails in 40 minutes (that’s the Hazelnut Old Fashioned below).

05. Bit in love with my new bag (from Melbourne-based designer Consequence of Change).
06. Second jab next week.
07. I know, I know, it’s lightweight but it really made me laugh.
Mmm…Hazelnut old-fashioned looks yum!
The praline on top was sweet-salty perfection.
What an inspired idea – books and bar under one roof. I wonder if the idea is to get the customers so tipsy that they buy more books than they would normally?
Well, I didn’t actually buy any books… but I did have a few gin cocktails.
Love the look of Buck Mulligan’s, and your new bag looks gorgeous too. Sounds like a good week.
Buck Mulligan’s a lovely, cosy spot for a Sunday afternoon.
I have good news for those in wintry Melbourne: the jasmine vine outside my library window is in bud and the very first bloom is smiling at me as I write.
(Ok, it is a *very* sheltered spot, but still, I don’t care, I’m calling it a harbinger of spring anyway.)
Always such a welcome sign (although can’t say that my jasmine is doing the same yet!).
OMG. I have also ordered that phone bag! Instagram advertising works. And that book bar has MY NAME ALL OVER IT. I have often joked that one day I will open a wine and book bar !
I love the look of Buck Mulligan’s and the name! I went to Bloomsday in Dublin a couple of years ago and there was a licensed bookshop giving performances from Ulysses!!
