I’m thinking: Yes – love the retro details.
Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi
Why I have it: Spotted on Hannah’s list of her best books for 2018 so far.
Summary: Ada, a young Nigerian woman has a fractured sense of self – some of her selves are more powerful and controlling than others.
I’m thinking: No – started with magic realism and it’s not my thing.
The Summer House by Philip Teir
Why I have it: Susan’s enticing review.
Summary: Erik, Julia and their children, head to the west coast of Finland where they will spend the summer. It won’t be an idyllic holiday – Erik is hiding news that will shock his family and a friend from Julia’s childhood causes havoc.
I’m thinking: Yes – light but with feeling.
I like the sound of You Belong Here. Hope you enjoy The Summer House if you plump for it, although if you haven’t yet read The Winter War you might like to take a dekko at that first.
Susan’s review tempted me to The Summer House as well. Her comment’s reminded me I should look at A Winter War too. So many books, so little time…
