Film.
- a visual feast (whereas in the book the descriptions of designer clothes were tedious)
- left out all the back-story about links between the families and didn’t suffer for it
- the actors hit the right satirical note (it was a little flat in the book).
I did enjoy the fact that the story is very much based on the author’s life – whaaaat?! And I loved reading about the architecture (although it was really a book about fashion).
I thought it was a frothy but enjoyable enough read back in 2013 (I was never tempted to read the sequels), but I can see how the story would work better as a film.
I have no intention of reading the sequels but would certainly watch them if they made them into movies. The movie was fun.
Neither really appeal to me but I’ll no doubt watch it when it comes on tv!

Had no real intention of reading the book, but the film was formulaic fun. And such a spectacle of beautiful scenes!

I am curious to read the book, but the movie is higher up my To-Watch list than the book is on my To-Read list. Glad to know the film did a good job presenting the story.
