Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye.
This week, all three books came from the Books Please #6Degrees chain.
Wreckage by Emily Bleeker
Summary: Lillian Linden and Dave Hall are the lone survivors of a plane crash. Castaways for two years they return to civilisation (and their lives and their spouses) as media darlings. But they can’t tell the real story—so they lie.
I’m thinking: Maybe. Don’t care for the writing much but I am intrigued (or is it going to be a grown-up Blue Lagoon?).
Before the Fact by Francis Iles
Summary: From the golden age of crime writing comes this tale of wealthy but plain Lina Mclaidlaw, who, against all advice, marries the charming and feckless Johnny Aysgarth. Lina is certain she can change him for the better, until she is forced to acknowledge that he is a compulsive liar and a murderer. Is she his next victim?
I’m thinking: Yes.
The Marriage Lie by Kimberly Belle
Summary: Iris and Will have the perfect marriage and the perfect life. Will is killed in a plane crash – on a flight he was never supposed to be on. Why? Iris is determined to find out what secrets Will was keeping.
I’m thinking: No.
I like Suspicion, which I’ve just realised from your post must be an adaptation of Before the Fact, so that gets my vote. And if it’s no good just watch the film – a classic!
Good luck deciding!
I’ve read several books about marriage just this year. Maybe it’s a trend or maybe it’s just me.
Wreckage reminds me of Lost… I’m intrigued though. Might have to check out the sample myself. 🙂
