Things That Are Making Me Happy This Week

01. Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is underway. We enjoyed an Austro-Hungarian lunch (that extended into dinner) at Cardwell Cellars. Highlights: the flammekuechen, the wines by Werkstatt (especially the riesling sekt), and the gingerbread kugelhupf, which were out of this world.

02. Saw MTC’s production of The Removalists – the confronting themes were especially interesting when viewed through the lens of the 1970s (it was written in 1971).

03. Watching: Ted Lasso. IKR? I’m the only person in the world who hasn’t seen it.

04. Japanese with my lovely counselling friends at DenDeke (highlight was the tuna tataki).

05. Listening (or we will be soon): Wet Leg are back.

06. The 2025 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards winners have been announced. Thrilled to see that 37 by Nathan Maynard won the drama category. It’s an extraordinary play.

07. Melbourne Writers Festival program launched – feels a little light-on compared to previous years but looking forward to Samantha Harvey, Yael Van Der Wouden, Carrie Tiffany,  and a couple of other events.

08. Cooking: baked chicken with tomatoes and pancetta and mozzarella. So good.

09. My morning walk included a platypus sighting 🙂
