01. A visit to the NGV Triennial exhibition. I loved the Maningrida weaving; the spectacular life cycle of flowers by Japanese artist, Azuma Makoto; Jessica Murtagh’s nod to COVID via Athenian ceramic amphoras; and the marvelous confessions (‘I really hate Collingwood’).
02. My favourite piece was by Iranian artist, Nazgol Ansarinia, who created dozens of resin casts of private swimming pools built during the Los Angeles–inspired optimism of Tehran’s urbanist project during the late 1960s. Following the Iranian Revolution from 1979 (and the rise of modesty laws), the pools were drained and now lie dormant. Reminded me of Leanne Shapton’s pools in Swimming Studies.
03. Program released for a favourite festival (Melbourne Food & Wine Festival) – snagged tickets for Vern’s x Capitano (American bistro) and Santo Palato (Italian).
04. Cotoletta paninis at Piccolo. So delicious and filling that I had to have a nap that afternoon…
05. Saw Pet Shop Boys’ Dreamworld – ace. My friend and I were despairing about the lack of PSB Australian tours. Hopefully that will change when they release their new album, Nonetheless, in April.
06. Love that Bunnings turned into Hammerbarn for Bluey fans (if you’re not familiar, see this episode).
07. Perfect summer red.
08. One of my favourite bands have a grouse new single out.
09. Australian Chamber Orchestra’s River (the documentary was shown with live accompaniment by the Orchestra) – sublime is an understatement. William Barton’s vocals were outstanding.
