Why I have it: Spotted on this list.
Summary: Jean Harley is loved by all. Tragedy strikes. What becomes of the people she leaves behind?
I’m thinking: No (seems similar to too many other books at the moment).
The Choke by Sofie Laguna
Why I have it: I loved The Eye of the Sheep but didn’t get around to Laguna’s new release when it came out – Deb’s Best of 2017 list reminded me that I’d missed it.
Summary: Abandoned by her mother and only occasionally visited by her secretive father, Justine finds sanctuary in the narrows of the Murray River.
I’m thinking: Yes. Laguna writes from a child’s perspective extraordinarily well.
