Things that are making me happy this week

01. The sweet, sweet smell of chlorine… Outdoor pools have opened again, and I fluked a booking on day one (haven’t been able to get another!). Doesn’t matter. It was the best swim I’ve ever had.

02. My son received an early entry (in the course of his choice) for university next year. Such a relief to have some certainty after such a tumultuous final year of school.

03. The tiny cans are so cute and the contents are so delicious – Curatif.

04. This roast duck ravioli. So good (I made the simple mushroom sauce suggested on the packet to go with it).

05. 100s & 1000s chocolate bar.

06. I’m not going to get into US politics, but I’m sure everyone’s thinking about karma right now…

07. Olive is trying her paw at online dating.

08. You’ve watched The Social Dilemma, right? Eek. Especially the bit where Cathy O’Neil said “…algorithms are opinions embedded in code…”.

09. Two author talks this week – Hetty McKinnon spoke about her new cookbook, To Asia, with Love, and the link to family, her mother, and her cultural heritage.

10. And Trent Dalton spoke to Clare Bowditch about the power of story-telling and his new novel, All Our Shimmering Skies – “When times are tough, good writing comes out of it…”. Also, a reminder of what is surely the most spectacular book cover of the year –
