In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume

In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume

It’s likely that Judy Blume fans will read this book regardless of what the reviewers say.
It’s unlikely to impress those who don’t love Judy to bits.

It’s likely to have some saying the story’s told from too many PoVs.
It’s unlikely to be a problem for anyone who can concentrate for five minutes.

It’s likely that readers will think, based on the blurb, that it’s a story about three plane crashes.
It’s unlikely that they’ll realise it’s hallmark Judy through and through – boys, bras, teenage angst, and going ‘all the way’.*

“It’s hard enough to be fifteen without your family making it worse.”

It’s likely to be Judy’s last novel.
It’s unlikely to be considered her best (I’m a Margaret and Deenie and Summer Sisters fan).

3.5/5 Truth is stranger than fiction.

*no characters called Ralph or equivalent, though.

How could I resist “Sloppy Joe sandwiches on silver platters.”? Sloppy Joes are possibly the most unattractive sandwiches I’ve ever seen but I’m sure they taste good.
