It’s time for #6degrees. Start at the same place as other wonderful readers, add six books, and see where you end up.
This month we begin with Notes on a Scandal by Zoë Heller. My copy of the book is part of the ‘Penguin Ink’ collection of contemporary classics. It immediately reminded me of a book that has been sitting on my TBR stack for ages – Indelible by Adelia Saunders. It’s about a woman who sees the ‘truth’ about people written on their skin.
Indelible focuses on secret and lost texts, as does The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.
Based on title alone, my next link is to Shadow Girls by Carol Birch.
There are parallels (and a title link) between Shadow Girls and Emma Cline’s The Girls.
The Girls is based on the real life story of the Manson murders. The Manson family had a cult following and they are referred to in a book I’m currently reading, Cultish by Amanda Montell.
I picked Cultish as part of my 2022 Nonfiction Reader Challenge. Another I’ve read as part of the challenge (and my first five-star read for 2022) is Rememberings by Sinéad O’Connor.
