The Melbourne Writers Festival program has been released. I’ve booked lots of sessions and realised that I will have to get busy reading in order to be across the books that the authors will be speaking about. On my reading list:
- Sunbathing by Isobel Beech
- Marshmallow by Victoria Hannan
- Bedtime Story by Chloe Hooper
- The Fell by Sarah Moss
- Found, Wanting by Natasha Sholl
- After the Tampa by Abbas Nazari
- Still Life by Sarah Winman
- Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh
- Putting the Rabbit in the Hat by Brian Cox
- Childless by Sian Prior
What should I start with?
Save the Winman for when you need an antidote to something dark and depressing. I’m just reading it now, a welcome ‘light read’ after the horror of Death in Spring by Mercé Rodoreda. I’m about half way through and apart from some briefly dark moments which are skated over, it seems like a British fantasy of Life in Tuscany (wine, good food, great scenery, lovely people and art).
Good advice (love your description ‘…British fantasy life in Tuscany’).
Cake.
😂
It’s nice that some of the components are also available digitally.
I need to look at the program. Are they doing anything digitally?
