Summary: Marco Carrera is ‘the hummingbird’, a man with an almost supernatural ability to remain still amid the chaos of an ever-changing world. The story examines the emotional challenges that fill his life.
I’m thinking: No – the conversational style will likely begin to irritate me.
These Precious Days: Essays by Ann Patchett
Why I have it: Because of Beck’s review.
Summary: “Any story that starts will also end.” As a writer, Ann Patchett knows what the outcome of her fiction will be. Life, however, often takes turns we do not see coming. Patchett ponders this truth in these essays.
I’m thinking: Yes (I think I like Tyler’s nonfiction more than her fiction).
The Book of Mother by Violaine Huisman
Why I have it: Not sure.
Summary: Story about a daughter’s inextinguishable love for her manic-depressive mother, and their joyful and chaotic life in Paris, which changes when Maman is hospitalized after a third divorce and a breakdown.
I’m thinking: Yes.
