Sample Saturday – picks from #6degrees

Sample Saturday is when I wade through the eleventy billion samples I have downloaded on my Kindle. I’m slowly chipping away and deciding whether it’s buy or bye.

Night Blue by Angela O’Keeffe

Why I have it: Spotted in Kim’s chain.

Summary: A narrative largely told in the voice of the Blue Poles painting.

I’m thinking: Yes, can’t resist the unusual ‘narrator’.

Plastic Emotions by Shiromi Pinto

Why I have it: Spotted in Jan’s chain.

Summary: A novel based on the true life story of Minnette de Silva, forgotten feminist icon and the first female Sri Lankan architect.

I’m thinking: Yes, I do like stories about architects.

Travelling in a Strange Land by David Park

Why I have it: Another from Kim.

Summary: The world is cloaked in snow, and transport has ground to a halt but Tom must venture out to collect his son Luke, sick and stranded in his student lodgings. During this solitary journey, Tom reflects on his life.

I’m thinking: Yes, have enjoyed Park’s previous novels.
